GLOSSARY
ā
CTE Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. BGA has been awarded CTE certification in Environmental Science.
ā
Day of Service Students participate in community service throughout their BGA careers. Supporting non profit organizations in the community gives students multiple points of entry into service organizations and potential career pathways that match their interests.
ā
Project Week Project Week (different weeks for HS and MS students) takes students out of the building to explore experiential, project- and work-based opportunities that expose them to a variety of learning opportunities and methods while supporting the development and practice of metacognitive and 21st-Century skills.
ā
Cross-Curricular Exhibitions Students in grades 9 through 12 are all required to work on projects that cross content areas and bring together their research in a cross-curricular exhibition. Students hone their research, writing, and public speaking skills as all are important components of a successful exhibition.
ā
Internships Fourth-term seniors all replace their work at school with internships, learning valuable work-based skills, checking out a potential career choice, and gaining practical soft skills like time management, conflict resolution, collaboration, and responsibility.
