Haitian Sisters Graduate at Top of Their Class From Boston Green Academy

As reported by NBC Boston:

After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, two sisters have triumphed and are at the top of their graduating class at Boston Green Academy in Brighton.

God, family and academics are the three things Carmelissa and Marlie Norbrun value most.

“I’m the valedictorian of the class of 2017,” said Carmelissa.

“I’m the salutatorian of the class of 2017,” Marlie said.

BGA teams up with Big Brothers Big Sisters Massachusetts Bay to Launch Mentor 2.0 Program

 

We have teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay to launch a new program that matches every BGA 9th grader with a mentor aimed at preparing high schools students for success in college and career. Volunteers will be able to mentor a Boston Green Academy High School student using a planned curriculum to develop their college and career readiness. Mentoring occurs once weekly through online communications and once a month in-person meetings in the evening.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27TH, 2016

On Wednesday, January 27, BGA was featured on Boston’s NPR Station, WBUR, to discuss our partnership with College Advising Corps. College Advising Corps works to increase the number of low-income, first-generation and underrepresented high school students who enter and complete college.

BGA has worked with College Advising Corps for the past two years and we are grateful for all the hard work and dedication of our College Advising Corps Advisor, Rudy Luders.

Boston Green Academy featured on CityLine

 

In September 2015, BGA staff and students were featured on WCVB Channel 5’sCityLine program. The segment focused on alternative discipline and shared the great work of our Student Support Team.  Thanks to our staff of social workers, community coordinators, and amazing teachers, BGA is a school where all students, especially those who struggle, can find support and success.

Environmental Justice Youth Forum

 

On Friday, May 15th, 2015 the Environmental Protection Agency Region 1 Administrator, Curt Spaulding will be at BGA to discuss environmental issues and encourage our students to be the next generation of youth leaders.  Students will participate in roundtable discussions on local topics.  The agenda for the day is located below.

Students mark Green Apple Day of Service with environmentally-friendly projects

 

Boston Public Schools (BPS) students, parents and teachers participated in the national Green Apple Day of Service on September 27 and throughout the week. Created in 2012 by the U.S. Green Building Council and the Center for Green Schools, Green Apple Day of Service promotes green school initiatives and green school building improvements.
