College & Career Counseling

The College and Career Counseling program at BGA is designed to expose students to post-secondary opportunities, including college options as well as different career opportunities.  Our ultimate goal is to help students be prepared for the next step they choose after high school graduation, whether it is furthering their education, going straight into the workforce, or enlisting in the military.

College & Career Counseling Supports include:

Project Week College Tour
College visits @ BGA
Standardized Test Prep

College & Career Counseling Workshop

BGA offers a College and Career Counseling Workshop, a course offered to seniors during the first semester and juniors during the second semester.  In the first half of the year, seniors will have regular, dedicated time to work on finalizing their post-secondary plans and to create an action plan to get them where they want to go.  From filling out college applications, writing personal statements and essays, and researching financial aid and scholarship options to working with our uASPIRE liaison to fill out and submit the appropriate financial aid forms.

For students who want to consider non-school options, the focus will be on creating strong resumes and honing their interview skills with mock interviews as well as informational interviews.  In conjunction with Ariana Evans, our Private Industry Council (PIC) representative, students will get assistance in attaining work permits, to learn about interesting and varied job opportunities, and to attain gainful employment if that is what they would like to do after graduation.

In the spring of junior year, students will explore diverse post-secondary options, such as colleges, trade schools, internships and work opportunities and create a preliminary list of places to where they will apply.  Juniors will also prepare for any standardized testing required by their institutions of choice.  All students at BGA will also explore different options by participating in college visits and attending college presentations at BGA.

Congrats to the Class of 2017!
